THE TRADITIONAL FUNERAL

The traditional funeral service is generally structured in the following manner:

  • Transfer of the deceased from place of death to the funeral home for preparation.
  • A period of visitation, usually two (2) or three (3) days, where the deceased is displayed in an open or closed casket.
  • A public or private ceremony in the Funeral home or Church of one's choice.
  • Committal service and burial in cemetery.
  • Memorialization or the placement of some type of permanent marker or inscription at the burial site.
  • Although the vast majority of families choose a complete traditional funeral, each funeral is different. Each service will vary in accordance with the wishes and circumstances of the family. The Funeral Director will provide counselling and advice to ensure a meaningful service is held.
